shipping policy and returns/exchanges

We currently ship to Canada and the US, with dreams and plans to expand internationally in the future!

Short answer: between 2-14 days, depending on where you are located, in normal times! Long answer: our shipping team will pack up and send out your order within 48 hrs, and from there it can take between a couple of days or a couple of weeks to get to you, depending on where in Canada or the US you are located. Please be warned that due to the strain of Covid-19 on the shipping industry, in rare cases it may take up to a month with current delays to get your order to you! Please reach out to hello@alderapparel.com if you notice any unusual delays.

Yes, we do! We provide free shipping labels on returns and exchanges up to 45 days from date of purchase.

Shipping is free on all orders over $100 USD!

We're so sorry to hear that! If your package has been stalled longer than 30 days, we will consider it lost and send you a replacement pair asap! Reach out to hello@alderapparel.com for support.

We know sometimes online shopping is tricky! We accept returns and exchanges up to 45 days after purchase date, as long as the items in question follow the 4Us: unworn, unaltered, undamaged and unwashed. Please also make sure to keep the tags on - detagged garments aren't eligible for return!

Find out more at our returns and exchanges page.

We know some of you planners like to get a jump on holiday shopping! Any unworn item that still has its tags and was purchased from November 1 to December 25 will be returnable or exchangeable until January 31. If you have any issues returning your gifted alder item, just reach out to us at hello@alderapparel.com! :)

gift cards

Absolutely! As long as it falls within our return policy. Items that are returned will have their value added back to the gift card. Exchanges are processed like normal.

Since our store is ecommerce only, our gift cards are e-cards only. Instead of a physical card, you will be sent an email link to your e-gift card that you can forward or print out for whomever you are gifting it to!

Unfortunately right now we aren't able to do custom amounts.

open-air pants

Our super stretchy, flexible, high waist band can add up to an inch circumference of extra wiggle room.

That depends on your phone! The side pockets will definitely fit most smartphones, but if you're working with a phablet, you might need to find another carrying option.

All of our zipped pockets should fit the standard 125x88 mm passport size! The two back pockets have zippers and can fit a passport (although full disclosure - not sure that would be comfortable!), but we also have a specially designed side-leg pocket with a zip that would be perfect - and safe - for a passport.

We suggest sizing up for a comfy fit! If you prefer a fitted pant look on the other hand, size down. Reach out to hello@alderapparel.com for more guidance or if you'd like to know specific garment measurements. And we know online shopping is tricky - if you're not happy with your fit, either way, we provide free size exchanges within our return/exchange policy!

Our pants on their own are probably not warm enough for a Canadian winter (well, maybe if you live in coastal BC!). But lucky for you, they are super stretchy! They can usually easily accommodate a pair of thermal underwear underneath so you can keep wearing your new favourite pants all winter long!

LITERALLY ANYTHING (except maybe swimming). Our pants are the perfect hiking pants. They're the perfect walk-to-your-office pants. They're the perfect fall-asleep-watching-the-stars pants. They're a choose-your-own-adventure pants.

Our pants are made out of modal material which is naturally water-wicking, but they are not waterproof or water resistant. if you take a swim, expect to get wet.
